Engagement Report June 2022

One of the main functions of the Community Council is to engage with members of the public in its area.
Over the past 12 months we have attempted to do that by:
-
Public attending our meetings – Although meetings have been conducted by Zoom during the past year, we have ensured that access to our meetings by members of the public has been maintained. Over the year we have been visited by 13 members of the public, 3 of whom have now been co-opted as members of the CC.
-
Publishing a website – The website contains information about the CC, including details of upcoming meetings, minutes of meetings, and topics of interest to the community such as planning issues, consultations, etc. It can be found at www.sccedinburgh.org.uk. It also gives a list of members of the CC, and contact details.
-
Maintaining a mailing list – associated with the website is a list of about 100 email addresses of people who have expressed interest in being informed about the activities of the CC. Notices sent to the mailing list include intimation of forthcoming meetings, and an alert when the minutes of a meeting are published on the website.
-
Facebook page – Notices sent to the mailing list are also posted on Facebook. The maximum number of engagements with a post was 88 this year.
-
Twitter account – We also tweet notices on Twitter where we have 19 followers, and have a number of retweets.
-
Notice Board – We maintain a board on West Richmond Street, where details of meetings are published, and we have used the board to display minutes of some meetings, and publicise other interesting things in the area, currently a notice about a history project at the local mosque.
-
We also ran a hustings for the City Council elections, giving an opportunity for the candidates for our ward to meet local people, answer their questions and explain their policies.
-
A table at the Meadows Festival 2022 was shared with Marchmont & Sciennes CC.
