Rubbish

Every household needs a system for dealing with rubbish. Has yours got one? Does everyone in the household understand how it works?

The Kitchen is the best place to start. That's where most rubbish accumulates.

You need several bins:

4 bins

Most people in flats use the communal bins on the street for disposal of their rubbish, so when one of your kittchen bins is full, empty it into your nearest communal bin, or if that's full, take it to the next one.

General Waste and Food Waste should be bagged (biodegradable bags for food waste), but recycling and glass go in loose. Compress your waste as much as possible so the communal bins don't fill up too quickly.

If all your nearby bins are full, don't dump rubbish beside the bin. Wait until the bin has been emptied and try again then.

If we all stick to these simple rules all should be well (unless the bin emptiers go on strike...)
